What Kind of Boudoir Session Is Right for You?
(The 5 Women I Photograph Most in My Denver Boudoir Studio)

What would I do if I were brave right now?
It’s a question I come back to often and interestingly, it’s the same question that quietly brings so many women through my doors.
Over the years, photographing boudoir sessions here in Denver, I’ve started to notice something.
Not patterns in how women look… but in why they come.
Because no one books a boudoir session “just because.”
There’s always a reason.
A turning point.
A whisper of something deeper.
And while every story is personal, most women I photograph fall into one of these five experiences.
You might see yourself in one… or maybe a little in all of them.
1. The Bride-to-Be
This is often how women first discover boudoir photography.
A wedding is coming up. Everything feels big and important and once-in-a-lifetime. And somewhere along the way, she hears:
“You should do a boudoir session as a gift.”
So she does.
She’s been working hard on herself, mentally, physically, and emotionally, and it makes sense to want to capture that moment in time. To freeze it. To give it.
But here’s what I’ve noticed…
When a boudoir session is only about the gift, something gets missed.
She’s often overwhelmed, juggling a hundred decisions, running on timelines and checklists. And instead of fully experiencing the session, she’s focused on the end result.
The album. The reaction. The deadline.
And while those things matter, the real magic of a boudoir session isn’t just what you hand to someone else…
It’s what you walk away with.
2. The Mom Who Almost Didn’t Do This
She usually starts with:
“This is a gift for my husband.”
But somewhere between booking and the actual session… something shifts.
Because this woman, often in her 30s or 40s, sometimes after having kids, has been living for everyone else for a long time.
And stepping in front of the camera feels… vulnerable.
There are doubts.
Questions about her body.
A quiet fear of being seen.
This is where everything changes.
Because when she realizes she’s allowed to take up space again… to feel beautiful for herself… the session becomes something entirely different.
These are the women who leave saying,
“I didn’t expect to feel like this.”
And honestly… those are my favorite moments.
3. The Woman Who Knows This Is for Her
She doesn’t need convincing.
She’s not here for a partner.
Not for a milestone. Not because someone suggested it.
She’s here because something inside her said: it’s time.
This type of boudoir session is deeply personal.
It might be tied to a birthday, a life transition, healing after something hard, or simply a desire to reconnect with herself.
She’s thoughtful. Sometimes a little nervous. Sometimes, overthinking every detail.
But she’s also the one who goes the deepest.
And because of that, this experience often becomes more than just a photoshoot; it becomes a marker in her life.
A before and after.
4. The Single Woman Reclaiming Herself
There’s something really powerful about this one.
She’s not waiting for someone else to validate her beauty.
She’s not doing this for a relationship.
She’s choosing herself fully.
Whether she’s in her 20s, 30s, or beyond, her boudoir session becomes a reflection of who she is. A reminder of who she is at her core.
Strong. Feminine. Soft. Magnetic.
Sometimes the images stay private.
Sometimes they’re shared later.
But either way, they hold something important:
Proof.
5. The Woman Who Thought She Missed Her Chance
I wish more women talked about this.
Because this client often spends the longest thinking about booking.
She wonders if she’s too old.
If it’s too late.
If this is “for someone like her.”
And maybe she’s even been told that it is.
But when she finally steps into the studio… something incredible happens.
She sees herself differently.
Not as someone who missed her moment—but as someone who is still very much in it.
These sessions are quiet, powerful, and deeply emotional.
Because they prove something that the world doesn’t always say out loud:
There is no expiration date on feeling beautiful.
So… Where Do You See Yourself?
The truth is, these aren’t boxes.
They’re just starting points.
Because every boudoir session I photograph—whether it’s for a wedding, a birthday, a fresh start, or no reason at all—comes back to the same thing:
You.
Your story.
Your relationship with yourself.
The way you want to feel when you look back at this moment in your life.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a Denver boudoir photography session, maybe this is your sign to stop waiting for the “perfect” reason.
You don’t need one.
You just need a moment of honesty.
What would you do if you were brave right now?
